Australian 8th Batt medals to W.ALLAN , Anzac & France 1914-19
Interesting group of father and son medals. Pte 1509 Walter ALLAN joined 8th Battalion A.I.F on 10/11/14 embarking for Egypt 19/2/15. Shown as landing ANZAC 8/5/15 until 27/8/15 in this time he appears to have been wounded and hospitalised and returned to ANZAC at least twice whilst also being reprimanded and charged a couple of times one being 28 days No2 Field Punishment ( reduced to 11 days) from ANZAC to Egypt until 1917 when he was sent to France for a short time before being returned to Egypt until discharge August 1919. Prior to discharge more punishments and discipline issues, one entry being apprehended by M.Ps in Brothel No 3. Unfortunately this group is missing the 1914-15 star. The War medal is to his son Sapper Willian Francis ALLAN V14971 4th A.T. Coy R.A.E unusually the WW2 records for William are open for examination.
