War medal issued to 32890 Pte G.HALLIDAY, 18th Battalion Kings , Liverpool regiment. Lord Derbys Liverpool Pals were part of the first wave of ‘the big push’ on the disastrous 1/7/16 first day Battle of the Somme. The 18th suffering grievous losses under heavy machine gun fire as it advanced to Glatz Redoubt, Halliday being one of the killed in action of that day
