25th Batt A.I.F Theatre made dog tag Pte Bendall
Amazing piece of history to survive. Zinc stamped theatre made disc worn by Private 2133 Archibald Cecil Bendall, he enlisted Feb 1916 and was sent to France , the rear of the disc incredibly has a paper label hand written Bapaume Cathedral May 1917, this being the scene of the infamous left behind German Mine detonation that killed numerous people including a number of Australian soldiers who were staying inside the cathedral obviously something very important to Archibald to record it in this way, towards the end of the war he transferred to the pay corps at the A.I.F HQ not returning to Australia until Nov 1919
