WW1 T /RFA /KENT brass other ranks shoulder title
Nice example of a brass ORs shoulder title for the Territorial Royal Field Artillery for Kent.
The Territorial Royal Field Artillery (RFA) in Kent played a significant role in Britain’s military organization during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These units were part of the Territorial Force, established in 1908 as a reserve force designed to support the British Army at home and overseas.
The Kent Batteries of the Royal Field Artillery were organized within the Territorial Force and later the Territorial Army. They were responsible for providing artillery support, including field guns and howitzers, to infantry units during operations. Kent’s geographic location made these batteries strategically important for defending Britain’s southern coast and supporting military campaigns abroad.
The batteries were equipped with field guns such as the QF 15-pounder and later the QF 18-pounder, which were vital in providing mobile firepower during engagements.
Recruitment primarily came from towns and rural areas across Kent.
World War I:
• Kent Batteries were mobilized during World War I and served on the Western Front and in other theaters of war, providing critical fire support in trench warfare and mobile operations.
