The 241st (Canadian Scottish Borderers) Infantry Battalion was established in Windsor, Ontario, recruiting in Essex County in the spring of 1916. In May 1917, they sailed to England, and by June 1917, the battalion was absorbed into the 5th and 12th Reserve Battalions to provide reinforcements for the Canadian Corps in the field. The unit was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel W. L. McGregor.
