Palestine War (Iraqi issue) 1948-49 commemorative medal.
The Iraqi Palestine War Commemorative Medal (Nut Herb Filistin 1948–49) was a campaign medal issued by Iraq to honour troops who participated in the 1948–49 Arab–Israeli War.
Instituted post-war in 1959, following the 1958 revolution, to retrospectively award members of the Iraqi Army’s Palestine Brigade and associated forces
Recognises service in the conflict against Israel that began on 15 May 1948 .
Construction: Three-piece medal crafted from silvered bronze with gilt and enamel details; measures approximately 40–41 mm in diameter
Obverse: Features Arabic inscriptions, likely naming the war theatre and period.
Reverse: bearing Arabic legends referencing the Iraqi Republic.
Ribbon: Typically in Iraq’s national colours
Awarded to members of the Iraqi Palestine Brigade and other Iraqi military units who took part in the 1948–49 campaign.
Though instituted in 1959, only those with prior wartime service were eligible
