The 44th Merwara Infantry was an Indian regiment of the British Indian Army, formed in 1822 and disbanded on June 22, 1921. After evolving through several names, it became the 44th Merwara Infantry in 1903. The regiment served in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) during and after World War I, experiencing heavy casualties.
