Post 1881 West Surrey Regiment helmet centre dug up in Malta.
West Surrey Helmet plate centre that I acquired 30 plus years ago in Malta, (time for someone else to enjoy it ) .
It had been excavated around Valletta , obviously the dry dusty soil preserved it well.
The 1st Battalion were stationed in Malta from 1891 until about 1902.
Badge still retains 2 of the original 4 rear wire loop fixings. read more
